On the 1st of November, Certificate Awards Ceremony was held within the framework of the European Union-funded project "Support to Implementation of National Qualifications Framework in Azerbaijan" implemented jointly with the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Mr. Anar Naghiyev, Deputy Director of Education Institute has greeted the guests and delivered his gratitude for participants for their valuable inputs during the activities. Mr. Anvar Abbasov, Deputy Director of Education Institute underlined the importance of the “National Qualifications Framework for Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan” project in ensuring the implementation of the Action Plan for the implementation of the State Education Development Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Mr. Ilkin Nazarov, Expert of the project, by spiking about the main principles of National Qualification Framework, noted that the main aim of the project is to ensure the development of modern qualification standards by ensuring the interaction of the education system with the labour market, the certification of all forms of education, and the proper transition between educational levels.
Later, Mr. Trevor Cook, Team Leader of the project, informed participants on the worked done by the project until now and thanked participants of working group for their support.
Mrs. Genevieve McCabe, Key Expert on Education Standards and Curriculum, presented a brief information on State Education Standards, Qualification Development, Curriculum Development and Qualification Working Groups and Working Group activities. Given information was about the aim of the working groups and worked done during the current period. Event continued by presenting certificate awards to working group participants for their valuable inputs.
“Support to Implementation of National Qualification Framework in Azerbaijan” project is funded by the European Union to assist the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan through the provision of technical assistance. The main objective of the project is to enhance the quality and relevance of the education and training system in Azerbaijan supporting economic diversification, creating opportunities for lifelong learning, and fulfilling the Education Development Strategy in line with European and international best practice. The specific objectives of the project are i) To ensure effective implementation of NQF; ii) To introduce relevant education standards in pilot sectors; iii) To ensure education standards support competency-based education provision; iv) To improve access to lifelong learning through flexible provision, alternative progression pathways and recognition of prior learning; v) To improve assessment and QA of assessment and certification processes; vi) To provide effective information and guidance for employers/sectors, providers and learners to use the NQF. The 30-months project is implemented by GOPA Worldwide Consultants as lead consultancy company in a consortium with British Council (BC), European Project Management Ltd (EPM) and SEFT Consulting.
